1976 Toyota Corollas

It’s tough to say exactly when Toyota became a mainstream brand. I would argue that the Japanese carmaker shed its niche-market “economy-car” image in the U.S. when it rolled out the inaugural Camry in 1983. With the Camry, Toyota had a product that could be cross-shopped directly with popular U.S. model vehicles.

1973 Volvo, Import car prices

1973 Volvo

There’s nothing like a bit of historical data to put 2016 new-car prices in context. For a healthy dose of perspective, scroll down to the 1973-model-year Mercedes-Benz prices below and just sort of let them sink in.

Snow-bound Mercedes SL

This snow-bound Mercedes-Benz SL is a little too easy to identify.

The snow came later than it usually does here around Consumer Guide’s suburban Chicago headquarters. However, when it did come, it came with impact, dumping 6-8 inches around the area in a relatively short period of time. With snow comes snow-covered vehicles, some of which may be difficult to identify under all the badge- and shape-obscuring white stuff. Here we have eight liberally coated vehicles for you to identify. A couple of the cars are pretty easy, but a few should take you a least a moment to ID.

2017 Subaru Impreza

2017 Subaru Impreza sedan in Lithium Red Pearl

Consumer Guide First Spin Since its introduction for 1993, Subaru’s Impreza has stood out in the compact class as being one of the few – and in many years, the only – member to offer all-wheel drive. And since 1997, AWD has been standard.
