Not since the attack on Pearl Harbor has another nation engaged in battle on U.S. soil, at least with the U.S.

Auto industry buffs may remember the “Asian Invasion” of the early Nineties, which was not a battle of military conquest, but one for the attention of upscale car shoppers. And the battle did not involve American interests, at least not directly.

Consumer Guide First Spin Coupes account for only five percent of the premium vehicle market, but they’ve also traditionally been important halo vehicles for their respective brands. That’s certainly been the case at Infiniti, where the Q60 coupe and convertible (and their G35/G37 predecessors) have typically been the most stylish and dynamic vehicles in the marque’s model lineup. After a year’s absence, the Q60 coupe returns for 2017 with a new design that shares elements of its architecture with the Infiniti Q50 sedan. We recently had the opportunity to sample the hottest version of the Q60 on a San Diego-area drive route.

2017 Infiniti QX30

Infiniti adds another entry in the premium-compact-crossover class for 2017. Joining the QX50 is the smaller, sportier QX30, which comes with a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine and either front- or all-wheel drive. Tested was a front-wheel-drive Sport version that started at $37,345 including destination, but several option packages ran the total to more than $43,000.
