The 2016 North American International Auto Show in Detroit marked the public debut of the hatchback version of Chevrolet’s redesigned Cruze compact car.
Though most of its technical specs are naturally shared with the previously announced 2016 Cruze sedan, the Cruze hatchback’s 5-door body style will boast 22.7 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seat, and 47.2 cubic feet with the rear seat folded.
The 2017 Cruze hatchback is set to go on sale in Fall 2016.
Compact hatchbacks are naturally more versatile than their sedan counterparts, so we’re glad the Chevrolet has seen fit to add a 5-door model to complement the Cruze sedan. The Cruze Hatch’s swoopy body shape looks to favor sporty styling a bit more than outright capaciousness, but it’s still nice to have an alternative Cruze choice.
