Garmin C.A.R.E.S.
Thanks to Garmin C.A.R.E.S., motorists no longer need to interact directly with panhandlers.

OLATHE, Kan.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. (NASDAQ: GRMN), today announced the C.A.R.E.S. system.

Charity comes in many forms. For urban motorists, charitable opportunities tend to present themselves in the form of street-corner fundraisers, panhandlers, and even the occasional hustlers.

But, as much as we want to give, we’re often put off by the potential danger—and just plain awkwardness–of rolling down our window for a total stranger.

Enter Garmin C.A.R.E.S.–the industry’s first Car-side Automated Remittance/Exchange System. With C.A.R.E.S., giving never needs to feel uncomfortable again.

C.A.R.E.S. works much like an ATM, and can dispense as many—or as few—bills as you feel appropriate. Thanks to its compact design, the self-contained C.A.R.E.S. unit mounts easily on the driver door of most late-model cars and crossovers, and is controlled via Bluetooth by the Garmin C.A.R.E.S. app on your smartphone or tablet.

The C.A.R.E.S. unit has a one-hundred-bill capacity, and its stainless-steel and carbon-fiber construction makes it virtually impervious to vandals and thieves.

The C.A.R.E.S. monitor can be programmed to display a custom message at the time of your donation, or you can choose from a number of pre-selected messages, including, “Have a nice day,” “Nice weather,” and “Get a job.”

The C.A.R.E.S. unit comes with complete do-it-yourself installation instructions, including a door-cut template. Professional installation by a reputable body shop should take less than two hours.

The Garmin C.A.R.E.S. retails for $499 for the base unit, and $599 for the Executive model, which includes two-way voice communication through the system and a musical donation accompaniment.
