According to the calendar, spring has officially arrived, and we can consign the winter of 2016-17 to the history books. Aside from one early March blast of snowy weather, our Chicagoland stomping grounds got off pretty easy in terms of frozen precipitation this season—but we still had our fair share of days where the thermometer didn’t get above single digits. Since the bone-chilling temperatures and snowstorms are (hopefully) in our rearview mirror now, it’s a good time to review our winter testing experience with our long-term Kia Soul EV.
The numbers are in, and 2016 was another banner year for light-vehicle sales in the U.S. All told, American consumers purchased more than 17.5 million new cars and trucks.
DETROIT — Kia unveiled an all-new rear-wheel-drive fastback sports sedan in conjunction with the 2017 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The 2018 Kia Stinger is the production embodiment of the Kia GT concept car that was first shown in 2011.

Ah, fall. When – here in the Midwest – it’s not too cold, not too hot, and not too rainy … for about three weeks.
Short as that utopian span is, it’s the closest we ever come to simulating the year-round climate of coastal California. Which, as it so happens, is where most EVs are sold.
Perhaps because it’s the first major auto show of the season (and perhaps because it’s set, of course, in California – the tail that wags the fashion dog), the Los Angeles Auto Show often establishes trends later followed at the other major shows.
