In the early Seventies, after low-lead gas and rising insurance costs put the kibosh on the original muscle-car era, a number of car lovers turned their creative attention to vans. While the early adopters of the era did most of the custom work on their vans themselves, it wasn’t long before automakers realized they could sell “custom” vans right from the factory.
