Chevrolet unveiled a refreshed 2016 Equinox at the 2015 Chicago Auto Show. Chevy’s popular “compact midsize” SUV gets a facelift highlighted by a new front fascia with projector-beam headlights, dual-element taillights, and new wheel designs.

Inside is a revised instrument-panel center stack, an audio system with a larger touchscreen, a standard rear-view camera, and various updated trim bits. Side blind-zone alert and rear cross-traffic alert are available on LT and LTZ models, and a universal tablet holder that mounts to the rear of the front seats is available as a dealer accessory.

A simplified model lineup now ascends through L, LS, LT, and LTZ trim levels. The Ecotec 2.4-liter 4-cylinder and 3.6-liter V6 engines are essentially unchanged. The 2016 Equinox is scheduled to go on sale this fall.

Chevrolet also introduced a style-focused Custom package for 2015 Silverado LS double-cab models. The package, which will be available for order this month, consists of 20-inch aluminum wheels, chrome bumpers, a body-colored top cap above the front bumper, and chrome mirror caps and door handles.

CG Says:

The Equinox is Chevrolet’s second best-selling vehicle after the Silverado pickup, and the updates for 2016 should help keep this popular five-passenger SUV looking fresh and up-to-date on the showroom floor. There are no major updates here… just a lot of little improvements that add up to a more appealing vehicle.
