“There’s no better way to learn about the performance and environmental advantages of electric vehicles than personal experience,” said Lew Bartfield, president and CEO of the American Lung Association of the Upper Midwest.
Goals of the program are to:
- Allow motorists to test drive a variety of locally available vehicles
- Educate consumers about vehicle charging at home, work, and at public stations
- Help people determine the best vehicles and charging options for their needs.

CG Says:
According to Midwest EVOLVE, the cost of plug-in hybrid and electric-car batteries is only 25 percent of what it was just five years ago, dropping from about $1000 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) to $250. Since most plug-in hybrids use batteries of 4-16 kWh and most electric cars have batteries of 16-60 kWh, this represents a tremendous savings. We’ve long felt that electric vehicles would suit far more people than actually consider them, and there’s no better way to educate consumers than with focused seminars and hands-on experience.
