The suspension gets unique red coil springs tuned for off-roading, twin-tube shocks that are reconfigured for better rebound control, and new bump stops aimed at improving body control over large bumps and dips. The specialized rolling stock consists of flow-formed TRD 18×7-inch wheels wearing rugged Falken Wildpeak A/T Trail all-terrain tires. Toyota says the suspension setup was inspired by Toyota’s Rally RAV4 race team.
Trim features include dark-gray front and rear lower fasciae, red interior stitching and trim elements, TRD logos stitched into the headrests, and TRD all-weather floormats. An exclusive two-tone Magnetic Gray Metallic with “Ice Edge Roof” color combination is available. LED fog lights and Toyota’s Safety Sense 2.0 suite of active safety features is standard.
The 2020 Toyota RAV4 TRD Off-Road is slated to go on sale in fall 2019.
CG Says:
Toyota’s RAV4 got a notably beefier look with its redesign for 2019, so the new TRD Off-Road model seems like a natural addition to the line. We know that Ford has announced a new “smaller-than-Bronco” off-road-oriented SUV in addition to the long-awaited revival of its Bronco. The RAV4 TRD Off-Road could be a natural competitor to that yet-to-be-revealed Ford model, as well as the Jeep Compass.
