More from the Chicago Auto Show
Nearly all of the six grades of the Tacoma — SR, SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, TRD Pro, and Limited — receive distinct new grille and wheel designs for 2020. Meanwhile, the ultimate off-roader TRD Pro gets a unique Army Green paint color. It — along with the “penultimate” TRD Off-Road — also make available a Multi Terrain Monitor that allows the driver to see underneath the vehicle to help avoid hitting obstacles in severe off-road work.
Standard on the base SR is a 7-inch touchscreen along with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, and satellite radio. It also comes standard with Toyota’s Safety Sense-P suite of high-tech safety features that include forward collision warning and mitigation with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams. The step-up SR5 gains a newly available 10-way power driver seat with lumbar adjustment.
The Sport trim level adds available LED headlights and Daytime Running Lights and an LED bed lamp. Also available is a 360-degree camera system. TRD Off-Road adds availability of the aforementioned Multi Terrain Monitor, and the luxury-oriented Limited adds standard LED headlights and Daytime Running Lights, 360-degree camera system, and chrome taillight inserts.
CG Says:
Styling updates aside, most notable here are the additions of Safety Sense-P and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto as standard equipment, and the 10-way power driver seat that’s been added to the step-up SR5. However, the Multi Terrain Monitor sounds really neat as well, and we hope to get a chance soon to try it out. It’ll be interesting to see how they plan to keep the camera clean ….
