It’s a fairly simple concept: You force more air into an engine to improve volumetric efficiency and thus increase horsepower. Turbocharging is so common these days that cars are very rarely named or badged as turbos. Every single 2020 Ford Escape, for example, is turbocharged.

While the burgeoning popularity of crossovers has caused some hair-splitting additions to model lineups of late, the new Mazda CX-30 fills a surprisingly large gap between the company’s CX-3 subcompact and CX-5 compact. And it fills that gap nearly dead-center, as its 173-inch length falls almost midway between the 168- and 179-inch spans, respectively, of its stablemates.
It also fills a gap in price.

It’s hard to believe that the car on these pages is original from the tires up. This 1956 Oldsmobile Super 88 Holiday four-door hardtop was purchased by an elderly lady in Kentucky and used by her housekeeper for shopping. A nephew inherited the car, but didn’t drive it—although he did start the engine occasionally. The nephew sold the Olds to a collector of original cars who later sold it to current owner Jimmy Blackburn of Texarkana, Texas.
Chevrolet has just taken the wraps off all-new versions of its “large and larger” full-size SUVs. The Chevrolet Tahoe and its longer-wheelbase, longer-overall-length sibling, the Suburban, have both been redesigned from the ground up for the 2021 model year. Both gain fresh styling, a revamped chassis, new powertrain choices, and a host of newly available technology features.
