While most think of “off road” as consisting of rocks, hills, and mud, it can also include sand. And for those who follow that path, Jeep has built a special vehicle.
2020 Jeep Gladiator Mojave
Based on the Gladiator pickup (itself based on the famed Wrangler), the Mohave includes a reinforced frame, one-inch front suspension lift, Jeep Performance Parts step sand slider side rails, a front skid plate, electronic-locking rear differential, FOX 2.5-inch internal-bypass shocks and hydraulic front jounce bumpers, 33-inch Falken Wildpeak All-terrain tires, and what Jeep says is a best-in-class ground clearance of 11.6 inches.
Inside, there’s an Off-Road Plus button that allows drivers to adjust throttle, transmission shift points, and traction control for peak performance on higher-speed stretches of sand, along with special front seats boasting more aggressive upper bolsters, orange accent stitching, and embroidered Mojave logos. Outside, the Mojave’s hood wears a scoop and unique decal, with special badging, orange tow hooks, and distinctive wheels completing the look. To top it all off, there’s even a new rating for it: Gladiator Mojave becomes the first Jeep to wear the brand’s newly minted Desert Rated badge.
The 2020 Jeep Gladiator Mojave is due in dealerships during the second quarter of this year.
CG Says:
The famed Baja 1000, a grueling 1000-mile race run through the deserts of Mexico since the 1960s, seems to have inspired the Mojave. However, there are plenty of places out west where desert driving is a cherished past time, and those who enjoy it now have a factory vehicle built specially for them. Although few of us have probably ever partaken of this activity, who among us wouldn’t want to? And now we can at least look like we do.
