In addition to updated trim and a larger touchscreen, Tucson’s XRT off-road oriented model receives a modified front-end designed to allow for a more generous approach angle, which is helpful on more rugged trails. Also new for the XRT are functional from tow hooks and larger tires.
The Tucson returns for 2025 with the same 187-horsepower base engine, as well as available hybrid and plug-in hybrid drivetrains.
In addition to styling updates, Hyundai adds an XRT trim level to the Santa Cruz lineup for the first time. The new off-road oriented trim level mirrors that on the Tucson, but will enjoy more power.
Santa Cruz SE and SEL trim levels come standard with a 191-horsepower engine. Night, XRT, and Limited trim levels are powered by a 281-horsepower turbocharged engine.
No word yet on Tucson or Santa Cruz pricing, which will be announced closer to the vehicles’ launch early this summer.
CG Says:
Already offered on the brand’s Palisade and Santa Fe crossovers, the XRT off-road themed trim level seems to us like a perfect way to expand the Tucson and Santa Cruz lineups. Though not designed for serious off-road work, the XRT trim level nicely blends rugged appearance with a modicum of additional utility, in a package that will almost certainly appeal to American consumers.
