5 Cool Things About The 2022 Mazda CX-9 Signature

Fuel Economy:

Compared with other 3-row crossovers evaluated by Consumer Guide over the past year or so, the CX-9 returned the best fuel economy. Those crossovers include the Hyundai Palisade, Nissan Pathfinder, Toyota Highlander, and Volkswagen Atlas.

Power:

The CX-9’s turbocharged 4-cylinder isn’t the most-refined engine in the category, but it develops plenty of useful torque for quick launches from a stop and satisfying passing and merging maneuvers.

Handling:

Like other models in the Mazda lineup, the CX-9 handles better than most of the competition. Credit sporty chassis tuning and quick, precise steering for the CX-9’s athletic character.

Long-Haul Comfort:

Though the 4-cylinder engine produces a fair amount of noise when pushed, it settles in nicely at highway speeds. Likewise, the big Mazda is comfortable at highway speed, with a well-controlled but comfortable ride.

Luxury:

Thanks to quality workmanship and a generous dose of high-end material, the CX-9 cabin, especially in Signature trim, reads like that of a luxury-brand vehicle. That said, at just over $48,000 as tested, the CX-9 is also priced close to some premium crossovers.
