At the 2018 New York Auto Show, Toyota unveiled a redesigned version of one of the most important vehicles in its model lineup. The 2019 Toyota RAV4 gets a new platform, updated powertrains, a new top-line all-wheel-drive system, and new technology features.
Nissan took the wraps off the all-new sixth generation of its midsize sedan at the 2018 New York Auto Show. Cadillac made news in conjunction with the 2018 New York Auto Show by rolling out the brand’s first-ever small crossover. In advance of the car’s debut at the 2018 New York Auto Show, Toyota has unveiled its redesigned 2019 Corolla—and the new model is a hatchback instead of a sedan.
In addition to the body-style change, the new Corolla is a bit longer, lower, and wider than the outgoing-generation model. It utilizes the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) Platform, versions of which also underpin the current Toyota Prius and the unconventional C-HR crossover. Toyota says the torsional rigidity of the new Corolla’s body structure is improved by 60 percent over its predecessor.

The 2018 Ford Police Responder Hybrid Sedan is essentially a Ford Fusion Hybrid that’s been fortified for police duty with cop-car gear such as steel wheels, wiring for light bars and other upfit equipment, easy-to-clean vinyl rear seats and floor, anti-stab plates in the front seat backs, and slim-bolstered cloth front seats (to accommodate officers’ utility belts). It shares the Fusion Hybrid’s Atkinson-cycle 2.0-liter 4-cylinder paired with an electric motor fed by lithium-ion battery. The powertrain produces a combined 188 horsepower and can run in battery-only mode up to 60 mph.
In the rarified world of hypercars, Swedish manufacturer Koenigsegg has produced its share. The company’s latest creation, the Agera RS1, hit the stage at the New York Auto Show.
