During Kia’s “EV Day,” the automaker introduced a trio of new fully electric models. We’ve already covered the EV5, which would be a rival to the Tesla Model Y, though it may not be sold in the United States. The other two entries will, and the subject here is a subcompact-class SUV named EV3.

Coming Soon: 2025 Kia EV3

Roughly the size of Kia’s wildly popular Soul, the EV3 will be the company’s gateway to its entire electric portfolio. The overall design of the concept shown here, at least from the A-pillar forward, is in the same ballpark as the upcoming full-size EV9 SUV. The rear looks like an amalgamation of the brand’s sporty EV6 hatchback and conventional Sportage SUV.

The interior is suitably futuristic with a large, combined instrument and infotainment display that can be customized to user preference. The center console is made from a renewable fiber derived from mushroom roots. The seats are made from a sustainable fiber weave designed to be softer and lighter than traditional materials.

As EV3 is currently a concept vehicle, no information was provided about its drivetrain, charging capability, or range. It’s possible the EV3 will be front-wheel drive only, relying on a comparatively small battery pack to help keep the cost of entry low. As such, we wouldn’t count on it having a range of more than around 200-250 miles. Production likely won’t start until sometime in 2025.

CG Says:

It looks like Kia has built a strong foundation for its new entry-level EV. We hope the final production model won’t deviate too much from the concept and that pricing will start, at most, in the low-$30,000 range before any applicable tax incentives.
