I’m kind of a sucker for car colors that demonstrate some level of translucence. I also really like dark greens. So you can see how Nissan’s new Midnight Pine Metallic would appeal to me.
Midnight Pine Metallic made its formal debut at the 2019 Chicago Auto Show, as seen on the Pathfinder’s new Rock Creek Edition trim level. The Rock Creek, with its off-road-oriented, hit-the-trail trim elements and attitude, proved a pretty solid launch point for the new hue.
The color returns to the Pathfinder lineup for the 2020 model year, and can be had on a number of trim levels, not just the Rock Creek Edition. Midnight Pine Metallic is also available on 2019 and 2020 Rogue compact crossover models, as well as the 2019 Titan large pickup. The Titan is being refreshed for 2020, and there’s no word yet on color availability for the updated trucks.
What appeals to me most about Midnight Pine Metallic is how, under certain conditions, the color gives the appearance of light as it passes through an antique liquor bottle. I’ve heard shades a little lighter than Midnight Pine referred to as Coke-bottle green. Sadly, Coke bottles are no longer green.
