You are likely aware which pickup trucks sold the best in 2025. But, just in case, here’s a refresher:
Pickup Truck Sales by State
- Ford F-Series (830,000)
- Chevrolet Silverado (590,000)
- Ram (375,000)
- GMC Sierra (355,000)
- Toyota Tacoma (275,000)
It’s impossible to see the kind of volume pickup makers enjoy, and not assume that everyone, everywhere, is buying pickups, and that’s not actually the case. That said, some States of the Union are FAR more pickup committed than others. What you really need is two charts to fully appreciate where these trucks are going.
Pickup Truck sales by State
First, let’s look at the top 10 pickup-sales states, based solely on volume:
States Where The Most Pickup Trucks Were Sold In 2025

- California (1,800,000)
- Texas (1,600,000)
- Florida (1,500,000)
- New York (900,000)

You are likely surprised that Texans are NOT the nation’s leading truck buyers, though the Lone Star folks are right up there near the top of the list. Also, what’s with Illinois? New Jersey? Who knew?
Texas
As for Texas, truck makers have been pandering to customers there for years. Did you know that there are several pickup trim levels and packages exclusive to state? Check these out:
- Chevrolet and GMC “Texas Edition” Packages
- Ford F-150 “Texas Regional” Package
- Ram 1500 Lone Star
Per-Capita Truck Sales by State
Despite the Texas reputation for truck love, there are states, that, on a per-capita basis, are far more committed to their Sierras and F-150s. Listed below are the ten states with the highest per-capita pickup-truck purchase rates in 2025:
States Where The Most Pickup Trucks Were Sold In 2025

- Wyoming (37)
- Montanna (35)
- North Dakota (32)
- South Dakota (29)
- Mississippi (27)

Wyoming Beats Texas
The award for real, country-music-style truck love goes to Wyoming, where in 2025, nearly 4-out-of-10 new vehicle buyers opted for a pickup truck of some sort. As for Texas? Didn’t even make the list.
Note: Both charts above include midsize (Ford Ranger) and compact (Ford Maverick) pickups.
So, Californians may purchase the most pickup trucks annually, but it’s Wyomingites that truly love the vehicles.
