As we’ve come to know, slapping an AMG grille and badging on a garden-variety Mercedes can completely change its personality. And now the treatment has been given to a range of AWD wagons shown at the 2017 New York Auto Show.
All three of the GLC crossovers feature – for the first time – high-powered biturbo V8s. Those in the GLC63 and GLC63 Coupe displace 4.0 liters and produce 469 horsepower and 479 lb. ft. of torque; paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission and 4Matic all-wheel drive, Mercedes claims a 0-60 time of 3.9 seconds. One step hotter is the GLC63 Coupe S, which boasts 503 horsepower, 516 lb. ft. of torque, and an even quicker 0-60 time of 3.7 seconds.

Hotter still is the rousing 603-horsepower version of the 4.0-liter biturbo V8 found in the Mercedes-AMG E63 S wagon. Likewise fitted with the company’s 4Matic all-wheel drive, Mercedes says its 0-60 time of 3.4 seconds makes it the quickest vehicle in its class.
CG Says:
Nothing like haulers that really haul. However you might feel about other versions of these vehicles, it’s hard to ignore – or criticize – versatile wagons with sub-4-second 0-60 times.
