Those of us that bring our cars in for the occasional oil change take some comfort in knowing that our tires and fluids were checked during the procedure…we hope.

Talk about a good run. The Pontiac Grand Prix, introduced for the 1962 model year, remained in continuous production until 2008. During that time its mission change a few times. Grand Prix started out as a premium coupe, and was for a time the most-expensive Pontiac ever offered. Premium versions of the Bonneville and Firebird Trans Am would eventually claim the priciest-Pontiac title.

Met my dad for lunch recently. From our table at a nearby eatery we had an excellent view of the street. My dad, who has a mild curiosity about happenings in the auto world, commented occasionally on vehicles passing the restaurant. While we worked to polish off the chips and salsa before our enchiladas arrived, dad took note of a crossover he couldn’t identify.

2023 CES: Sony Honda Afeela Concept

Sony plans to enter the automotive space, and the Japanese consumer electronics giant unveiled a prototype of its first vehicle at the 2023 Consumer Electronics Show. Developed as part of a joint venture with Honda, the Afeela EV will be built in the US for the North American market.

Stellantis’ Fiat division used the 2023 Consumer Electronics Show to promote the North American debuts of its 2024 500e electric car and the new “Metaverse Store” that will be used to help sell it. The vehicle and its virtual showroom are already available in Europe, and the company hopes these pieces can help revive the struggling Italian brand find more success across the pond.
