For those anxious for Jeep to introduce a fully-electric “Trail Rated” utility vehicle, the wait is almost over. Initially promised as a 2025 model arriving in 2024, the Recon SUV is now slated for early 2026 availability.
2026 Jeep Recon
L.A. Auto Show
Revealed two days prior to the media-day opening the 2025 Los Angeles Auto Show, the Recon promises much of the same utility and off-road capability as the brand’s legendary Wrangler.
Specs

The electric Jeep features a dual-motor drive setup good for 650 horsepower, and up to 250 miles of range from a 100-kWh battery. Like the Wrangler, the Recon delivers an open-air experience, with four removable doors, and removable rear-quarter glass. It does not appear that the roof can be opened or removed, however.
Prices
As seen here in uplevel Moab trim with 33-inch off-road tires, the Recon will deliver a promised 230 miles of range. The 2026 Recon will start at $66,995, and should reach $80,000 in well-optioned top trim levels. The Recon will be assembled in Toluca, Mexico.
New Jeeps Coming
Recon comes as part of a wave of new and refreshed Jeep models, including the updated Grand Cherokee and Grand Wagoneer, and the all-new Cherokee. We expect 2026 to be an interesting year for Jeep dealers starved for updated product.
CG Says:
If Jeep is serious about electrification, then it needs to hit showrooms with an EV that lands exactly where the brand is centered: off road. Especially given Tesla’s failure to build a seriously capable off-road vehicle (think Cybertruck), we’re excited to see what the maker of the Wrangler can do with a battery-powered rock cruncher. Recon prices start high, but Jeep may just be looking for a halo model right now, with volume sales following when the political climate changes. Note that as this was published, Stellantis announced its partnership with Tesla, opening access for all the maker’s brands—including Jeep—to the Tesla Supercharger network.
