As the market made its seismic shift to crossovers, the company continued to concentrate on cars, adding but one entry of the crossover variety in the past 15 years. As a result, today’s Honda lineup of 10 vehicles contains only three crossovers.
Oh, the shame.

Honda has the compact SUV class capably covered with its CR-V, and its Pilot SUV is a solid competitor in the three-row midsize SUV category. However, two-row, five-passenger SUVs are also a very popular market segment, and Honda didn’t have a product offering there to compete directly against rivals such as the Ford Edge and the just-redesigned Hyundai Santa Fe. That changes with the introduction of the 2019 Honda Passport, which is being unveiled at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show.

After teasing audiences with videos of the vehicle in camouflage, Honda finally pulled the wraps off its redesigned flagship SUV. The 2023 Pilot will enter its fourth design generation next month sporting new exterior and interior styling, a brand-new V6 engine, and a revamped TrailSport trim level that the automaker is promoting as the most off-road-capable Honda SUV ever.
