Chevrolet revealed today the fourth generation of its popular compact crossover. Completely redesigned for 2025, the new Equinox features new styling, new and upgraded tech and safety equipment, and a larger footprint. Most notably, the 2025 Equinox is wider by more than two inches; it is also slightly longer and taller.

2025 Chevrolet Equinox
Chevy has simplified trim-level offerings, paring the lineup to three distinct models: LT, sporty RS, and new, off-road flavored Activ. Though Chevy has not announced pricing, we expect the models to ascend in that order. Gone for 2025 is the base LS and topline Premier.
Returning is a 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. The 175-horsepower powerplant pairs with a CVT automatic in front-wheel-drive examples of the Equinox, while AWD units will be fitted with an 8-speed automatic.
Apparently moving the Equinox upmarket, the standard equipment list has been expanded, and now includes the following features:
- Adaptive cruise control
- Heated front seats and steering wheel
- Power rear liftgate
- 11-inch instrument panel
- 11-inch touch screen
- Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
- Google built-in voice recognition
Also new, the Activ trim level brings a rugged, off-road ready look to Chevy’s compact crossover, and includes the following equipment and trim bits:
- Rugged front fascia with vertical grille inserts and gray metallic-finished accents
- Blacked-out badging
- 17-inch machined-face alloy wheels
- Maple Sugar and Black interior theme, with premium suede and microfiber seating surfaces
- Available heated and ventilated front seats rear heated outboard seats
The new Equinox will be available later in 2024. Pricing will be announced shortly before the new Chevy’s on-sale date.

When it comes to compact crossover sales, the Toyota RAV4 (435,000 units in 2023), Honda CR-V (361,000), and Nissan Rogue (271,000), dominate the segment. In the middle of the pack is the Equinox, which quietly accounted for 213,000 sales last year. That’s more than a number of more-discussed small crossovers, including the Hyundai Tucson (209,000), Mazda CX-5 (153,000), Subaru Forester (152,000), Ford Escape (141,000), and Kia Sportage (141,000).
Given the market’s appetite for off-road looking crossovers, we’re predicting the new Activ trim level will go some distance towards improving Equinox sales volume. Whether or not Chevy’s generally likable compact ute can catch the number-three Rogue in overall annual sales remains to be seen. Pricing will play a big role in this race, as will public reaction to the crossover’s new look.
