2020 Porsche 911 Carrera

LA-Auto-Show-LogoPorsche unveiled the eighth generation of its venerable 911 sports car at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show.

Although certainly familiar, the styling is revised — particularly at the rear, which hosts a wider spoiler and light bar — and save for the front and rear fasciae, the body panels are now made entirely of aluminum. Wider wheel housings cover 20-inch front wheels and 21-inch rear wheels, and flush-mounted electric door handles extend outward when needed.

Boxster and Cayman to be branded as 718 model range next year

Porsche’s mid-engine sports cars to receive new name

Atlanta, Georgia. The mid-engine sports cars from Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG will be named 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman, respectively, when the models are introduced over the course of 2016. The 718 designation is a reference to the ground-breaking sports car Porsche introduced back in 1957, which achieved great success in a number of renowned car races. The 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman will share more similarities than ever before – both visually and technically. In the future, both will have equally powerful turbocharged flat-four cylinder engines. The Roadster will be positioned at a higher price level than the Coupe – as is the case with the 911 models.

2016 Mercedes-AMG GT

The new Mercedes-AMG sports car will boast 456 horsepower in GT form, and 503 in GT S trim.

Mercedes-Benz today unveiled the Mercedes-AMG GT sports car. Presented here is the unedited press release that accompanied the new model’s introduction.

AMG racetrack performance combined with superb everyday practicality

Affalterbach. The first Mercedes was a racing car and its most recent successor carries this heritage forward. With the new 2016 Mercedes-AMG GT, the Mercedes-AMG sports car brand is moving into a new sports car segment. The GT is the second sports car developed entirely in-house by Mercedes-AMG. Its front mid-engine design with a rear transaxle and use of intelligent aluminum lightweight construction form the basis for a highly dynamic driving experience. Its newly developed AMG 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine underscores the hallmark of AMG driving performance. The first sports car engine from AMG with internally mounted turbochargers (‘hot inside V’) and dry sump lubrication is configured in two output ratings: as a GT with 456 hp (340 kW) and as a GT S with 503 hp (375 kW). The new GT combines driving dynamics and first-class racetrack performance with superb everyday practicality and efficiency that sets new standards in the segment.
