The 2011 Saab 9-4X is the newest addition to this Swedish automaker’s lineup. Though Saab is no longer owned by General Motors, the 9-4X borrows elements of its basic design from the Cadillac SRX.
This premium-midsize SUV seats 5 and offers three trim levels with two engines. The base 3.0i and uplevel 3.0i Premium are offered with front- or all-wheel drive. They have a 265-horsepower 3.0-liter V6 engine. The top-line Aero model is all-wheel drive only and has a 300-horsepower turbocharged 2.8-liter V6. A 6-speed automatic is the sole transmission. Maximum towing capacity is 3,500 pounds. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, curtain-side airbags, and front-side airbags. Leather upholstery is standard on the Aero; 3.0i models use “leatherette” vinyl upholstery. Heated and ventilated front seats are standard on the 3.0i Premium and Aero; heated front seats are optional on the 3.0i. Tri-zone climate control and heated rear seats are optional on the 3.0i Premium and Aero. Power-adjustable pedals, a power tailgate, and a rearview camera are standard on the 3.0i Premium and Aero and optional on the 3.0i. A navigation system and front- and rear-obstacle detection are standard on the Aero and optional on the 3.0i Premium.
Note: Fewer than 700 of these Saab crossovers were eventually built, 60 of which 2012 models.
