Buick recently took the wraps off the 2024 Envista. This subcompact SUV will replace the Encore as the brands least-expensive vehicle. Slotting below the Encore GX (which is getting a major freshening for 2024), Envista will be the first model to showcase Buicks new design language and logo. It will also be the last new product to use a gasoline engine as the company will transition to fully electric vehicles by 2030.

Styling wise, many of Envistas design elements are callbacks to Buicks Wildcat EV concept. The large lower grille and narrow headlights follow current automotive design trends. The rather pointed front end and fastback-like rear styling make it look almost like a diminutive Lamborghini Urus. If one wishes to not be so charitable, you could call it a Chinese knockoff of a Lamborghini Urus, which is somewhat ironic as this vehicle is currently on sale in China.
Envista is 11 inches longer overall and has a 4-inch-longer wheelbase (distance between the front and rear axles) than the Encore GX. This results in more front and rear legroom than the GX, however, Envista has less cargo space.

Power comes from the Encore GXs 1.2-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine. In this application, it will produce 136 horsepower, 162 lb-ft of torque, and pair with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive will be the only configuration offered. Those wanting all-wheel drive will need to step up to the Encore GX. GM-projected fuel-economy ratings are 28 mpg city/32 highway/30 combined.
The instrumentation and infotainment displays will share a single binnacle, resulting in 19 diagonal inches of usable screen real estate. The infotainment portion is 11 inches on its own, which Buick claims is the largest in the segment. A full complement of smartphone connectivity is available.
Among driver-assistance features, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and lane-keep assist are standard. Blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert and adaptive radar cruise control are also available. While the equipment list was not finalized as of this writing we expect these extra safety features to be standard on the flagship Envista Avenir trim and optional on the base Preferred and mid-line Sport Touring.
Pricing for the 2024 Buick Envista, including destination fee, ranges from $23,495 for the Preferred to $25,195 for the Sport Touring, and $29,695 for the Avenir. Production for the US-spec model is expected to start in May with initial retail delivers following this summer.

When Buick launched the original Encore more than a decade ago, we were skeptical that such a vehicle could make an impression on the market. This concern was unfounded as it quickly went on to become the brands top-selling model. Save for the lack of available all-wheel drive, Envista looks like it will build upon its predecessors strong foundation especially since its being priced very aggressively.
