In the Star Trek canon, Project Genesis was a program by which the Federation would take a dead and lifeless planet and convert it into a lush, ocean-and-plant-filled paradise ready for human inhabitance.
Frankly, it’s a bit surprising it’s taken Volkswagen this long.

One might have assumed that, back some six decades, the realism of television might have served to protect the more fantastic qualities of print advertising. Especially automotive print ads, where dazzlingly illustrated cars with wonderfully exaggerated proportions were set into equally improbable landscapes.
Last year, BMW sold almost 350,000 vehicles in the U.S.–almost twice as many cars and SUVs as Cadillac sold here. The reasons for BMW’s relative success are numerous, yet it can be tempting to oversimplify the situation and conclude that Americans prefer the German maker’s hardware to that of Cadillac. While that may be true, there’s more to the picture–or in Cadillac’s case, less.

For a couple of decades now, car designs have morphed at a fairly even and modest pace. Most vehicles now go five to six years between major updates, receiving only minor “midcycle” styling revisions two to three years into their life cycles.
We can talk all day about how much cars have changed over the past four decades. It’s easy to point at the demise of large sedans, the ever-growing popularity of SUVs and crossovers, and the rise of import brands. But, one of the most telling indicators of how much things have changed is the language we use to describe vehicles.
Miami moved its annual auto show from November to early September this year, making it the first show of the new-car selling season. In many cases, that gives visitors (and that includes the press during preview days) their first views of the 2017 models. Below are some of the highlights from Miami.
