In 1962, color television broadcasts were still a relatively new and novel feature. So new, in fact, that Disney dubbed its prime-time Sunday-evening program “World of Color.”
Automotive print and magazine ads, however, were packed with color in 1962—in terms of both palette and claim-packed copywriting.
And while you may not remember “The New Loretta Young Show,” we’re pretty sure you remember the ’62 Lincoln, or ’62 Plymouth for that matter.
Collected here for your consideration are ten classic car ads from 1962. Note that only one of these vintage adverts is presented in black and white, though the sales language in that ad is decidedly colorful.
